10 micro-habits for more focus

Hello!

Being your own boss means freedom, flexibility, having coffee whenever you want.

But many freelancers feel that it can be difficult to stay focused and get the right things done.

Your time is valuable.

So we need to work smarter, not harder.

And small habits can make a big difference.

Here are 10 micro-habits to help you focus more:

☘️ Just 3 minutes

Before diving into today's tasks, write down the three most important things you have to do.

It helps you to prioritize and stay focused.

🍅 Tomato timer

Try the Pomodoro method: 25 minutes work, 5 minutes break.

Repeat and enjoy the productivity.

🚽 Turn off notifications (yes, all)

Emails, social media and apps that ping steal your attention.

Turn off notifications and set specific times to check them (you're not alone in scrolling the toilet!).

🥵 Climb the mountain directly

Tackle the toughest task first thing in the morning when your energy is at its peak.

The rest of the day will be easier!

⏲️ 60-second rules

If something feels hard to start with, spend just one minute on it.

We promise you'll work more minutes once you get started!

📩 Write short

Keep your emails to a maximum of five sentences.

Faster for you, faster for the recipient = win-win.

✅ Batcha

Collect similar tasks and do them in one go.

Example: Answer all emails once in the morning and once in the afternoon instead of checking all day.

❌ Say no (or at least "not now")

Protect your time by not saying yes to too much.

Learn to say no to what does not fit your goals.

🏁 Say goodbye then

Set a time when you log out and shut down.

Having a clear workday helps you to be more focused when you are actually working.

🖐🏽 Just 5 minutes

End the day by reflecting on: What went well? What can I do better tomorrow?

This helps you feel better, find improvements and grow.
