Strategy for personal branding

Hello!

Think of a company that you like.

(We hope you think of Worknode 😉)

Why do you like that particular company?

Could it be because it inspires confidence? And maybe personal?

In today's digital world, old, dusty and flashy marketing of products and services does not work.

🏆 Building trust is #1

Because people don't relate to faceless brands. People relate to other people.

🙋🏻‍♀️ Personal branding is about how you present yourself professionally - both online and offline - to build a strong and credible reputation in your industry.

🌹 It's about your unique story, your values and how you are perceived by others. In other words, personal branding is extremely important for many freelancers.

Here's how a personal branding strategy on LinkedIn can help you become more visible and get more jobs.

(We use a freelance photographer as an example.)

1. Trust at first sight

Make sure your profile is impressive and shows your personality!

📣 Creative & clear headline

Your headline should show who you are, what you do and why you are unique.

"Photographer at [Company name]" (too generic)

"Portrait Photographer | Taking pictures that show your soul"

"Wedding Photographer | Capturing magic and immortalizing love"

"Is your LinkedIn picture from 2017? Time to fix it!"

📖 Worth reading "About me"

Tell us your story! Why is photography your passion? What makes you unique? How did it all start? Add a call-to-action (e.g. "Want a photo shoot? Get in touch!").

Example:

"I believe that a good image is more than just light and composition - it's about capturing a feeling. Whether it's a modern corporate profile or a magical wedding, I make sure to capture soul and character. Are you ready to let others see you at your best? Let's create something unique together!"

📸 Profile picture & banner that matches your brand

Profile picture: A professional picture of you - preferably one where you are holding a camera or in action.

Banner: Show your work! Make a collage with your best photos or upload a simple, clean image with your name/logo.

2. giving is a gift

Create content that shows your expertise & personality!

📳 Post regularly - and smartly!

Make posts 1-3 times per week with a mix of:

Behind the scenes: show how you work and create your images.

Before & after: Edits or lighting examples.

Customer stories: A short story behind a photo shoot.

Tips & Tricks: "How to take better portraits with a mobile camera"

My biggest lessons as a photographer: Personal reflections create engagement.

👸🏻 Storytelling & humor

Share mistakes, lessons learned and funny events from your job.

Example:

"Once upon a time, a photographer was hired to shoot a corporate event. The guests were toasting, the camera was clicking, the atmosphere was great. Suddenly, the photographer realized she was in the wrong place. She wasn't at a corporate event, she had started shooting a private birthday party. 😅

Here's a list of what I learned to always double-check before going on a mission!"

3. Network and let them notice you

Send personal contact requests and show that you exist!

🔌 Connect with the right people (in your industry)

✅ Business leaders, HR professionals & entrepreneurs (for company photo)

✅ Event Planner & Wedding Fixer (for wedding photography)

✅ Other photographers (for collaborations)

💬 Comment often on others' posts

Write insightful and funny comments on posts from potential customers and industry colleagues!

4. #SkapaEnEgenHashtag

Try making your own series to create some buzz!

Example:

#FridayPhotoTips - Weekly photo tips.

#GirlBehindTheLens - Show how you work behind the camera.

#LinkedInHeadshotChallenge - Challenge people to update their profile picture.

5. Get more assignments today

Be strategic and active to find new jobs!

🧰 Create a service page

LinkedIn has a feature where you can list services you offer (e.g. portrait photos, wedding photos, corporate photos). Activate this under Add Profile Section - Add services in your profile.

⛏️ Actively search for jobs

Search for "photographer wanted" or "wedding photographer" in LinkedIn Jobs - many companies and individuals are looking for freelancers!

📬 Send smart DMs to potential customers

Write personalized messages that show you want to work with them - instead of sounding salesy with a standard message.

We look forward to seeing more of YOU!
