Earn more in 2025

Hello!

How is your pricing going? Does it feel okay? Would you like to earn more?

Raising your rates is an important step to grow as a freelancer - so that your work remains financially sustainable.

But telling customers about a price increase can feel strange and awkward.

How will they react?

Will they stop working with me?

Will I be considered greedy?

So here are 5 tips to raise your prices in a stylish way:

1. timing

Raise your prices when a new period starts - like now at the beginning of a new year or at the next quarter. But don't surprise your customers. Notify existing customers at least 30-60 days before the price increase takes place.

For example:

"Hi [customer], I would like to inform you that as of [date] my prices will increase to [X SEK/h or X SEK/project]."

2. Emphasize the value you create

Remind your clients of what they get by working with you. Focus on the results you have helped them achieve, the benefits of your expertise and any new skills/certifications you have acquired.

For example:

"Over the past year have been working on [specific achievements/projects]. I am so proud of the results we have achieved together. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you that I am now certified in [new certification]. This price adjustment therefore reflects the value and quality of my work. It ensures that I can continue to deliver the highest quality work. And continue to help you achieve your exciting goals in 2025!"

3. Emphasize context - not excuses

There is no need to over-explain the price increase. And definitely no need to apologize. Instead, explain the increase as a natural step in your development.

For example:

"As my business grows and evolves, I am determined to stay at the forefront of [your industry] and continue to create the best possible outcomes for my clients."

4. Be ready with alternatives - if needed

Not everyone will be able to afford your new prices (and that's okay!). Being ready with alternative, scaled-down offers that fit your customer's budget - and your value - shows your flexibility and your commitment to working with them.

For example:

"If this price adjustment is not suitable for you at this time, I am happy to discuss alternatives that are in line with your goals and budget."

5. Be ready to close a door or two

For some customers, your new prices may not work at all. Be prepared to let them go. Instead, focus on attracting higher paying customers who respect your value!
